When birds go to sleep, they don’t think about whether they will wake up. They don’t worry about whether or not they will find worms. Sleep tonight with bird energy, safe in the knowledge that tomorrow will come and your needs will be met. Know that there are people surrounding you in a bubble of love and lightness, including me. Sweet dreams, Gretchen #Happy #LifeHack |
The People You Love
There are always flowers for those who want to see them. Henri Matisse
Wishing you a day filled with flowers. Inviting you to see the flowers, to smell the flowers no matter how challenging life may be today. Encouraging you to look for the abundance of miracles, no matter how small. Letting you know, with certainty, that I am here in the mists of the digital world, wishing you the very best of days. And, sending good thoughts and prayers to everyone who needs them. However your week went, give yourself permission to recharge over the weekend. Be with the people you love being with. Do the things you love to do. Have fun! Yes, the things you love with the people you love, Gretchen #Happy #LifeHack |
Be One of Those People
Some people care too much. I think it’s called love. Winnie the Pooh
Yeah, we need more of those people. Be one of those people who leave others in a better place. Seek out the people who lift you up. Love begets happiness. Happiness can change the world.
Pay it forward, Gretchen

Waiting in the Forest
You can’t stay in your corner of the forest waiting for others to come to you. You have to go to them sometimes. Winnie the Pooh
Research tells us that having friends increases our happiness. What can you do in the coming weeks to reach out to friends and family, or to someone new who might become a friend? We always wish we had the time. No better time than a pandemic to reconnect with an old friend when time’s gotten away from you. Hi, my name is. . . . Gretchen #Happy #LifeHack |
The Value of Doing Nothing
Don’t underestimate the value of doing nothing, of just going along, listening to all the things you can’t hear, and not bothering. Winnie the Pooh
Winnie the Pooh’s philosophies are simple, yet profound. So simple anyone can do it! Why not practice like Pooh? Enjoy some time just going along and not bothering. You’ll be surprised at the results!
Listening to the invisible wisdom, Gretchen 🙂

The Upward Spiral of Gratitude
When you rise in the morning, give thanks for the light, for your life, for your strength. Give thanks for your food and for the joy of living. If you see no reason to give thanks, the fault lies in yourself. Tecumseh
Gratitude creates an upward spiral. It connects us to what is going well.
Quick! Name seven things you are grateful for! Repeat as necessary.
Life, resilience, purpose, passion, beauty, irreverence, dark chocolate caramels. . . . Gretchen

Looking Fear in the Face
You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, “I lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along.” Eleanor Roosevelt
What fears are yours to carry today? What fears belong to someone else? Does it serve you to carry others’ fears? Finish this sentence, “If fear didn’t stop me, today I would _____.”
When we carry burdens that aren’t our own, we drain our energy. Leaving us less able to take meaningful action and feeling less happy. Causing us to perpetuate a negative spiral instead of a positive spiral.
Let’s lift as we rise, Gretchen

Happiness, Caring, and Commitment
When you care, you’ll do what you can. When you’re committed, you’ll do whatever it takes. So, can I ask you a hard question? (If the answer is no, stop reading here. LOL! It’s okay. Some days, we just don’t want to go there.) How committed are you to being happy? Happiness seems like it should be effortless. But, even when you know what you want, it’s not always easy to get there. Sometimes, we have to take a detour through unhappiness to get to happiness. Setting boundaries, standing up for yourself, job hunting, moving, leaving a relationship. Happiness can be hard work. And, when you get there, it’s like, “Oh, Snap! This is awesome. It was a journey and it was so worth it.” Unstoppable, Gretchen #Happy #LifeHack |
Yes, you can be happy, any time, any place!
Albert Einstein has his quantum theory of light. Gretchen Martens has her Quantum Theory of Happiness…..
Happiness is made up of tiny acts (called acts) of kindness, generosity, fuzzy socks, self-affirmation, dark chocolate, gratitude, smiles, campfires, love, wine, hugs, compassion, grilled cheese sandwiches, and any other good stuff you can think of.
Super simple, right? Stick enough photons together, you can light up a stadium. Stick enough of those acts together and you can light up your life and the lives of those around you.
You are the sunshine of my life, Gretchen
